The lovely São Nicolau Church is situated right in the Baixa quarter, on the historical Lisboa city centre, in Prata Street.
The origins of this temple date back to the 12th century, yet the present building dates from the 18th century, with many conservation works since then. The project s attributed to the Architect Reinaldo Manuel dos Santos. Recently, in 2003, the Church got several profound conservation and preservation works, endowed with a new fresh ambience.
The Church is characterized by its only nave with the ceiling decorated with paintings of the renowned Pedro Alexandrino, where are represented the three cardinal virtues: Faith, Hope and Charity.
